₦184 Million For The Fallen: Police Honour Heroes Beyond The Grave

In a country where security personnel often pay the ultimate price, moments of remembrance serve as both comfort and a stark reminder of the cost of duty.

The Nigeria Police Force has disbursed ₦184,889,087 to families of officers who died in active service, reaffirming its commitment to those left behind.

At a solemn ceremony held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on April 2, 2026, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, represented by Sulaiman M. Abdul, presented cheques to sixteen beneficiaries and next-of-kin under the Group Life Assurance Scheme.

The event, part of activities marking National Police Day, carried an emotional weight as families gathered not just to receive financial support, but to witness a formal acknowledgement of sacrifice.

In his remarks, the IGP stressed that no compensation can truly replace lost lives, but assured that the Force remains resolute in standing by the families of fallen and injured officers.

He noted that their courage and service will continue to be honoured and remembered.

For many in attendance, the gesture was more than a payout, it was a reassurance that their loved ones’ sacrifices had not been forgotten.
