FCC Boss Moves To Deepen Inclusion, Crack Down On Job Racketeering

In a country where young people make up the majority, the battle for fairness in public service is increasingly becoming a fight for the nation’s future.

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hulayat Abiola Omidiran, has reaffirmed that young Nigerians remain at the heart of the Commission’s mandate, pledging stronger inclusion and zero tolerance for corruption in recruitment processes.

Speaking in Abuja while receiving a delegation from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Omidiran stressed that getting it right with the youth would ultimately secure Nigeria’s future.

She noted that the FCC is shifting focus towards deliberate youth engagement, including plans to integrate the council into its activities through a dedicated youth committee.

The FCC boss also issued a strong warning against job racketeering, declaring that the Commission has activated whistleblowing mechanisms to ensure transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to due process.

Earlier, NYCN Deputy National President, Mukhtar Akosile, welcomed the renewed collaboration, describing it as a long-overdue engagement.

He said the council is ready to serve as a bridge between young Nigerians and the Commission by providing feedback and tracking the impact of opportunities allocated to the youth.

The meeting signals a renewed push to align governance structures with the aspirations of Nigeria’s youth population, at a time when trust, equity, and opportunity remain critical to national cohesion.
