Tinubu Rallies APC On Unity, Says Reforms Are Steering Nigeria Towards Prosperity

In a speech laced with optimism and political messaging, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu used the platform of the APC’s 4th Elective National Convention in Abuja to project confidence in both his administration’s reforms and the ruling party’s future, declaring that “progress is impossible without unity.”
Addressing party faithful at Eagles Square on Friday,

Tinubu described the convention as a defining moment for Nigeria’s democracy and the All Progressives Congress, urging members to place collective interest above personal ambition.

He stressed that the party’s greatest strength lies not in its size but in its unity, warning that political parties often collapse when “ego overrides ideology” and ambition replaces discipline.

The President dismissed fears of a one-party state, insisting that democracy thrives on credible opposition and healthy competition, while defending the 2026 Electoral Act as a product of due legislative scrutiny and national consensus.

Tinubu also used the occasion to highlight what he described as gains under his Renewed Hope Agenda, citing declining inflation, improved investor confidence, economic expansion, trade surpluses, and renewed foreign interest in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

According to him, inflation has dropped for eight consecutive months to 14.45 per cent, while food prices are easing and business confidence has recorded 12 straight months of growth.

Speaking directly to young people and women, the President promised wider opportunities for inclusion in party leadership and governance, stating that the future of the nation must be built on youth innovation and women’s leadership at its core.

He charged delegates and aspirants to conduct themselves with integrity throughout the convention, urging that no contest should divide the party.

“To all those who will be elected today, carry this trust with humility, fairness and unwavering commitment to our party’s ideals,” he said.

The President also commended governors, ministers and members of the convention planning committee for what he described as the seamless organisation and success of the event.

His speech comes as the APC seeks to consolidate internal cohesion ahead of future electoral contests and deepen support for the administration’s economic reforms.
