In a bold move that links agriculture with security, the Plateau State Government has pledged full support for the establishment of large-scale Defence Farms in Wase Local Government Area, an initiative expected to boost food production while strengthening peace in the region.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau, gave the assurance while receiving the Group Managing Director/CEO of Defence Holdings Company Limited (DHCL), Air Vice Marshal Anthony Victor Ndace, and his team at the Government House in Jos.

The Governor reaffirmed the state’s readiness to immediately hand over 30,000 hectares of land already allocated in Wase to kick-start the Defence Farms and Agro-Allied Products (DFAAP) project.

He said the initiative would not only enhance agricultural output but also improve security in Wase and neighbouring communities.

Mutfwang commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for his efforts in promoting national stability and pledged close collaboration between the Plateau State Government, Defence Headquarters and DHCL to ensure smooth implementation.

Speaking on behalf of the CDS, Air Vice Marshal Ndace thanked the state government for the land allocation and disclosed that a technical team had accompanied him to assess the site and explore partnerships in line with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.

The visit also featured a presentation on the wider 98,000 hectares available in Wase, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph to mark the growing civil-military partnership.
