Nigeria Stands With Switzerland After Deadly New Year Fire
Nigeria has expressed deep sympathy with Switzerland following a tragic fire outbreak that marred New Year celebrations at a popular ski resort, leaving dozens dead and several others injured.
The Federal Government described the incident as a painful reminder of how moments of celebration can quickly turn into tragedy.
The fire reportedly broke out in the early hours of New Year’s Day at Le Constellation bar in Crans-Montana, a high-end resort town known for attracting tourists from around the world.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Nigeria, conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the Swiss Government and people over the devastating loss of lives.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, said Nigeria stands in solidarity with Switzerland at this difficult time.
He also extended sincere sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the inferno and wished the injured a speedy and full recovery.
The Nigerian Government noted that its thoughts and prayers are with Switzerland as it mourns the victims of the tragic incident.
