Ogbaru Diocese Ordains Seven In Spirit-Filled Advent Service

With hymns rising like incense and the Basilica of St James the Great, Atani, filled to the brim, the Diocese of Ogbaru on Sunday witnessed a defining moment for its faith community as seven men were ordained to serve as deacons and priests in the Anglican Communion.

Presiding over the Advent ordination, the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Rt Rev’d Prosper Amah (JP), charged the newly ordained clergy to root their ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit and the unchanging truth of God’s word.

He urged them to uphold integrity, model godly character and remain steadfast in proclaiming the gospel.

Bishop Amah reminded Christians to show genuine commitment to God’s work and humanity, stressing the need to “hold the faith and fight the good fight.”

Four deacons and three priests were ordained: Rev’d Angus Uchenna Okoye, Rev’d Uchenna Izuchukwu Abazu, Rev’d Egemole Livinus Onuwakwe, Rev’d Ejikeme Divine Abatam, Rev’d Echezona Oranusi, Rev’d Abazuonu Ikechukwu and Rev’d Wisdom Izuchukwu Mordi.

Brimming with joy after the service, the newly ordained clerics described the day as a profound milestone.

They thanked God and appreciated the Diocese, particularly Bishop Amah, for entrusting them with the sacred responsibility of ministry, pledging to serve with dedication and humility.

Families, friends and well-wishers also turned out in vibrant support.

Among them were Jeria Angel (CEO, Zenapex Transport and Logistics), Oza Okita of Abala Kingdom, Samuel Ifeanyi Ovuma, Chief Cletus Mgbemena, Mr Robinson Nwokolo, Mr Kenneth Nwadikwe and Hon Dr Daniel Obi.

Many expressed delight at witnessing the spiritual rite and prayed for God’s strength and blessings upon the new ministers.

The celebration featured photography sessions, music, trumpeting and lively moments led by the ordinands, rounding off a memorable day for the Diocese and its faithful.
