DSS Arrests Suspected Major Arms Supplier In Plateau Amid Renewed Push Against Insecurity
With security agencies intensifying efforts to disrupt the networks fuelling violence across northern Nigeria, the Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a man believed to be a key supplier of weapons to armed groups operating in Plateau and neighbouring states.
The suspect, identified as Musa Abubakar, was picked up on 12 November 2025 following what security sources described as “precise and credible intelligence.”
DSS operatives reportedly stormed his clandestine arms-manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa LGA, Plateau State, where he was allegedly caught in possession of components for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), chemicals, and other weapon-making equipment.
A DSS source disclosed that Abubakar had confessed to producing and distributing high-calibre weapons and ammunition to violent groups responsible for recent attacks in Plateau State and other parts of the North.
The breakthrough comes on the heels of the recapture of notorious Kuje Prison escapee, Abdulazeez Obadaki, popularly known as Bomboy, who was linked to deadly attacks on Owo and a Deeper Life Church.
Security observers say the latest arrests highlight the DSS’s renewed momentum in dismantling terror networks.
Only recently, the agency confirmed the arrest of nine high-profile suspects connected to killings in Plateau and Benue, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol of First Baptist Church, Mangu LGA, who has already pleaded guilty to illegal firearms charges in case number FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.
As investigations continue, the DSS maintains that it remains committed to strengthening national security and curbing the flow of illegal arms across the region.
