Nigeria Extends Solidarity To Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica Following Hurricane Melissa Devastation

In a gesture of compassion and global solidarity, Nigeria has expressed heartfelt sympathy to the governments and people of Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica following the catastrophic impact of Hurricane Melissa, which left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, described the images and reports emerging from the affected countries as “truly heart-wrenching,” citing widespread flooding, destruction of infrastructure, and tragic loss of lives and livelihoods.

Nigeria commended the resilience and swift response of the emergency teams battling to save lives amid immense challenges.

The statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the principles of South-South cooperation and the enduring bonds of friendship shared with the Caribbean nations.

The Federal Government also called on the international community and partner organisations to rally support for Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica to aid their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba, Haiti and Jamaica,” the statement concluded.
