Nigeria Police Deepens Digital Safety Drive With Nationwide Cybercrime Awareness Campaign

In a world increasingly driven by technology, where opportunities and risks coexist online, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is taking proactive steps to strengthen the nation’s digital resilience.

The Nigeria Police National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) on Saturday in Abuja held a one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign, aimed at empowering Nigerians with the knowledge and tools to stay safe in the digital space.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to protecting citizens from cyber threats and ensuring a secure online environment for all.

In his remarks, the Director of NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, lauded partners and stakeholders for their support, stressing that the fight against cybercrime requires collective responsibility.

“Today’s digital era demands that all Nigerians are not just users but also guardians of their own cybersecurity,” he said.

The event, which drew over 3,000 participants from schools, government and private institutions, and digital platforms, featured an awareness walk, distribution of sensitisation materials, and a musical fiesta that creatively reinforced the campaign’s core message, Stay Smart, Stay Safe online.

The campaign underscored the Police Force’s growing efforts to promote cyber education, enhance reporting mechanisms, and strengthen enforcement capacity, reaffirming its resolve to secure Nigeria’s digital future.
