NAF’s Eight-Month Air Offensive Crushes Terrorists In Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a decisive blow to insurgents in the North-East, killing at least 592 fighters and destroying 372 enemy assets in just eight months – surpassing the pace of its 2024 operations.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, revealed the figures during a visit to Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, in Maiduguri on Tuesday. He said upgraded aircraft and precision night-strike capabilities had enabled 798 combat sorties, totalling over 1,500 flight hours, under Operation Hadin Kai.

Targets destroyed include 206 technical vehicles and 166 logistics hubs, crippling insurgent mobility and supply lines. Air Marshal Abubakar vowed the air war was now “faster, sharper, and more surgical”, with new assets like the Mi-35 gunship set to intensify close-air support for ground troops.

Governor Zulum praised the NAF’s role in protecting communities, describing the partnership as vital to rebuilding lives. Abubakar also commended the state’s “Borno Model” a blend of community engagement and military action as a winning formula in the fight against terrorism.

The visit included inspections at NAF Base Maiduguri and briefings on ongoing operations, underscoring the force’s commitment to safeguarding civilians while dismantling insurgent networks.
