Police Push Tinted Glass Permit Crackdown To October – Urge Nigerians To Apply Via Official Portal

Motorists with tinted windows have been handed extra time to get their paperwork in order, as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has shifted the enforcement of its Tinted Glass Permit rule to 2 October 2025.

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, approved the extension after a sharp rise in applications flooded the official portal, possap.gov.ng.

The Force says the move will allow for more careful screening to ensure permits go only to eligible individuals a step it insists is vital for national security.

The delay also gives police more time to fine-tune both digital and on-the-ground verification systems, to keep the process transparent and guard against abuse.

The NPF is warning motorists to avoid unofficial channels and is encouraging Nigerians to report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or shady processing via its hotline: 09169967000.

In a statement, the Force reaffirmed its commitment to balancing public convenience with robust security measures: “Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe.”
