Anambra Police Nab Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Stolen Vehicle In Awka

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old suspected armed robber and member of a separatist group, recovering a stolen vehicle in the process.

Operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, carried out the early morning raid on 10 August 2025, following credible intelligence.

The suspect, identified as Charles Chinonso, was apprehended at Umuazu Village, Nise, in Awka South Local Government Area.

According to police reports, the vehicle had been snatched from its owner at the World Bank Housing Area, Owerri West LGA of Imo State.

Acting swiftly on technological leads, officers tracked the vehicle’s location and moved in to arrest the suspect.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, confirmed that the Command will work with the Imo State Police Command to ensure the suspect faces justice and the recovered vehicle is processed according to the law.

Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to continue providing timely information to aid crime-fighting efforts.
