CHAN 2025: Brave Eagles Fall Short As Senegal Snatch Late Winner
Nigeria’s Super Eagles B kicked off their African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with a narrow 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal in Zanzibar on Tuesday.
In a tightly contested Group B clash at the Amaan Stadium, the Lions of Teranga broke the deadlock with 15 minutes to go capitalising on a rare defensive lapse that lured goalkeeper Lawal Mustapha off his line.
Despite enjoying more possession and showing plenty of grit, the Eagles struggled to break down Senegal’s solid defence.
Captain Junior Nduka, Leonard Ngenge, Tochukwu Michael, and Olamilekan Adedayo battled hard, but clear-cut chances proved elusive.
With Congo and Sudan earlier drawing 1-1, Nigeria now sit bottom of the group and must bounce back in their next match against Sudan, scheduled for next Tuesday at the same venue.
