IGP Boosts Police Intelligence Unit With New Tech, Global Training
Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has taken a bold step to strengthen crime-fighting efforts by equipping the Police Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU) with cutting-edge technology and specialised training.
In a move aimed at sharpening the Force’s intelligence-led policing approach, the IGP announced the deployment of modern devices and applications to enhance surveillance, criminal tracking, and rapid response across the country.
He also ordered comprehensive, globally-aligned training for TIU personnel to ensure they’re equipped to handle emerging crime trends with precision and professionalism.
“The dynamic nature of crime today demands a smarter, technology-driven approach,” Egbetokun said, noting recent major arrests, including a notorious arms syndicate operating in parts of the North Central as early wins of the strategy.
The IGP reaffirmed the Police Force’s commitment to staying ahead of security threats while assuring Nigerians of a more proactive and responsive policing system.
