IGP Egbetokun Decorates 28 Senior Officers, Urges Innovation In Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, has decorated 12 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 16 Commissioners of Police (CPs) with their new ranks, charging them to adopt innovative approaches to policing across the country.

The colourful ceremony, held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, was attended by top government functionaries, senior police officers, and families of the newly promoted officers.

This promotion follows the Police Service Commission’s approval, requested by the IGP, as part of his ongoing welfare drive which has seen record-breaking promotions within the Force in recent months.

Among those elevated to AIG are Emmanuel Adegbola Aina, Enyinnaya Adiogu, Ronke Nurat Okunade, and nine others. Newly promoted CPs include Sheik Mohammed Danko, Abiola Reuben Olutunde, Emefile Tony Osifo, and Musa Muhammed Sani.

Dignitaries at the event included Senator Oyewunmi Olalere, Rt. Hon. Obi Aguoda, Dr Shuaib Belgore of the Housing Ministry, and the Executive Secretary of the Police Trust Fund, Femi Sheidu.

In his remarks, the IGP congratulated the officers and urged them to earn public trust through professionalism and community collaboration while upholding citizens’ rights.
