NAF Air Strikes Deal Major Blow To ISWAP In Lake Chad Region

The Nigerian Air Force, (NAF), has scored a significant victory in the fight against terrorism, neutralising several high-ranking ISWAP commanders and fighters during a precision air strike on a key insurgent hideout in Borno State.

Acting on credible intelligence, the air strikes conducted on 27 July 2025 under Operation HADIN KAI targeted Arina Woje, a known ISWAP stronghold in the Southern Tumbuns, Lake Chad region.

The enclave had reportedly become a hub for regrouping ISWAP elements following recent clashes among rival factions.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, surveillance had detected heightened terrorist activity in the area, including troop movements, hidden command centres, and reactivated logistics hubs masked beneath thick foliage.

NAF deployed precision-guided munitions to eliminate selected targets, resulting in what was described as a “devastating effect.”

The operation destroyed several insurgent structures, including those housing key ISWAP leaders and logistics stores effectively disrupting the group’s operations in the region.

“This mission demonstrates the Air Force’s unwavering commitment to dislodging terrorist elements, denying them freedom of movement, and supporting ground troops in restoring peace across Nigeria,” said Air Commodore Ejodame.

The latest success highlights the growing importance of intelligence-led air power in modern counter-terrorism efforts and reaffirms the resolve of Nigerian forces to rid the region of insurgency.
