ECOWAS, Africa Centre For Strategic Studies Forge Stronger Ties On Peace and Security
In a bid to tackle West Africa’s evolving security challenges, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies (ACSS) have strengthened their strategic partnership to promote peace, security, and human development across the region.
At a high-level meeting held on Friday, 18th July 2025, at the ECOWAS Commission headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, the ACSS Director, Ms Amanda Dory, led a delegation to engage with ECOWAS Vice President, H.E. Madam Damtien Tchintchibidja.
The discussions centred around curbing the rising tide of misinformation, disinformation, and insecurity threatening the region’s stability.
Key areas of collaboration were outlined, including capacity building for ECOWAS and Member States’ personnel, strategic leadership training for peace and security experts, enhanced information sharing, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence for smarter data analysis and conflict forecasting.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to building resilient governance structures and strengthening early warning systems to better anticipate and respond to crises.
This renewed cooperation signals a proactive shift in regional security architecture—anchored in innovation, collaboration, and strong leadership.
