Air Peace Plane Skids Off Runway In Port Harcourt, No Injuries Reported

Passengers on board Air Peace Flight P47190 had a brief scare on Sunday morning after the aircraft veered slightly off the runway while landing at the Port Harcourt International Airport.

The Lagos–Port Harcourt flight reportedly experienced what aviation authorities call a “runway excursion.” Thankfully, there was no damage to the aircraft, and all passengers disembarked safely and calmly.

In a statement, Air Peace’s spokesperson, Osifo-whiskey Efe, confirmed the incident and assured the public that no injuries were recorded. “The aircraft veered slightly off the runway without any damage. All passengers disembarked safely,” the airline said.

Air Peace reiterated its strong safety record and pledged its continued commitment to the highest operational standards. “We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations,” the statement read.

This latest incident comes just two months after another Air Peace aircraft was grounded in Asaba following a collision with a large antelope while taxiing. That unexpected wildlife encounter disrupted several flights.

Reacting to the developments, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) noted that while some events—like wildlife intrusions are beyond the airline’s control, carriers are still expected to uphold their responsibilities to passengers.

Despite the scare, Sunday’s incident ended safely and highlights the importance of quick action by crew and airport officials.
