Cadets Gear Up As Commandant Flags Off 2025 Games At Nigeria Police Academy
The usually tranquil grounds of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State came alive yesterday as the Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, officially flagged off the 2025 edition of the Commandant’s Games.
With drums, cheers, and cadet formations in full display, the Academy Stadium played host to the colourful opening of the 3-day sporting fiesta designed to promote physical fitness, discipline, and camaraderie among the Academy’s cadets.
Declaring the games open, AIG Atayero highlighted the critical role sports play in shaping qualities essential to effective policing — teamwork, leadership, and resilience. “Beyond the medals and trophies, these games are about building character and unity,” he said, urging cadets to compete with integrity and true sportsmanship.
The Games, which run from 7th to 9th July, will feature intense competitions in football, athletics, volleyball, and indoor sports, with cadets from various Regular Courses vying for glory.
Commending the organising committee for their dedication, the Commandant encouraged all participants to uphold the Academy’s values throughout the competition.
The event not only fosters healthy rivalry but also reinforces the Police Academy’s commitment to developing well-rounded officers ready for the demands of modern policing.
