The Federal Government has extended warm congratulations to Amaju Pinnick on his recent appointment as Special Adviser to the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, conveyed the FG’s message of felicitation, describing the appointment as a testament to Pinnick’s towering influence and impeccable track record in both African and global football administration.

Motsepe, while addressing journalists on Saturday night, revealed that Pinnick would attend all CAF meetings and support him with strategic advice in executing his responsibilities.

The CAF President lauded Pinnick’s longstanding dedication and noted, “I didn’t know Amaju is so loved in CAF.”

Reacting to the appointment, Mallam Dikko said, “This is not just about football—it’s about leadership, integrity, and vision. Amaju Pinnick has consistently flown Nigeria’s flag high in the international football scene, and his appointment is a well-deserved recognition of his competence and credibility.”

Pinnick, a former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has held numerous high-ranking positions including WAFU Vice President, CAF 1st Vice-President, and FIFA Council Member. Dikko highlighted that Pinnick’s international influence had, in the past, paved the way for over 20 Nigerians to serve in continental and global football bodies—a legacy that continues to benefit Nigerian football.

Director-General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, also praised Pinnick’s unmatched network and diplomatic prowess, adding, “We are proud of him and will keep supporting capable Nigerians to attain global sporting leadership.”

The FG noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier endorsed Pinnick during his FIFA Council candidacy, and this new role serves as a validation of that confidence.

As Pinnick steps into this influential advisory role, hopes are high that Nigerian football will continue to gain from his strategic positioning and passionate service on the continental stage.
