Nigeria’s Open Government Partnership Moves Forward With 4th National Action Plan
Stakeholders from across Nigeria’s public and civil sectors gathered in Abuja on Monday to chart a new course for transparency and citizen-focused governance as they began work on the 4th National Action Plan of the Open Government Partnership (OGP).
The high-level event brought together key players from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), civil society organisations, and subnational representatives, all united in their commitment to deepen Nigeria’s open governance agenda.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, assured Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda, promising real impact on citizens’ lives.
The OGP National Coordinator, Gloria Ahmed, noted that the new action plan will be aligned with the president’s delivery priorities, ensuring that the partnership stays relevant to national development goals.
Also weighing in, the OGP Non-State Actor Co-Chair, Nma-Nnaobi Ayodele, emphasised that the plan will reflect the real needs of Nigerians and promote tangible improvements in service delivery.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman, stressed the importance of synergy between government MDAs and civil society groups to achieve OGP objectives, while PACE Team Leader, Ifeanyi Peters Ugwuoke, called for greater proactivity from government actors, particularly in addressing the needs of the vulnerable.
Rounding off the day’s discussions, OGP Civil Society Adviser, Uchenna Arisukwu, commended the dedication of all partners and called for even stronger collaboration moving forward.
A strong call was made to ensure that subnational actors are not left behind, with participants urging their full inclusion in OGP processes to guarantee true nationwide impact.
