FRSC Boss Hails Customs CG On Global Appointment, Celebrates Nigeria’s Rising International Profile
The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his recent election as Chairperson of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council, a first for Nigeria.
In a statement from FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, the Corps Marshal described the appointment as a significant milestone not just for Mr. Adeniyi, but for Nigeria as a whole.
He praised the Customs CG for his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence, saying his new role reflects the international community’s trust in Nigeria’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to global trade and customs governance.
“This is not only a personal triumph for CG Bashir Adeniyi but a national honour.
It underscores our growing reputation for professionalism, efficiency, and leadership on the world stage,” he noted.
In a related development, the Corps Marshal also celebrated FRSC’s own achievement as it was elected the Permanent Secretariat of the Africa Association of all Road Safety Lead Agencies (AARSLA).
According to him, this new role will position the FRSC at the heart of continental efforts to advance road safety standards, promote collaboration, and support the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety.
Describing both victories as “indubitable evidence of Nigeria’s rising global influence,” he applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an enabling environment that allows such institutions to thrive through strategic support and reform-minded governance.
The Corps Marshal reaffirmed FRSC’s commitment to deepening collaboration with sister agencies like the Customs Service to ensure a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
