In a renewed push for regional unity and democratic stability, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Omar Alieu Touray, welcomed members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa to the ECOWAS headquarters on Wednesday, 25th June 2025.

The strategic familiarisation visit marks a new chapter in the relationship between Nigeria’s National Assembly and ECOWAS. During the meeting, lawmakers pledged their commitment to closer collaboration aimed at fostering regional integration, peace, and socio-economic growth across West Africa.

Dr Touray, while addressing the delegation, underscored ECOWAS’s unwavering dedication to promoting trade, political stability, and democratic governance throughout the region. He stressed that unity among member states is key to achieving lasting development.

Both parties agreed that now more than ever, bold partnerships and coordinated legislative action are crucial to confronting regional challenges and securing a more prosperous future for West Africans.
