Barr. Obinna Uzoh Declares For Anambra South Senate, Calls For Equity

In a heartfelt appeal for fairness and balanced representation, renowned philanthropist and legal luminary, Barr. Dr. Obinna Uzoh, on Saturday, officially declared his intention to contest the Anambra South Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing the Anambra APC State Executive at the party secretariat on 7th June 2025, Dr. Uzoh emphasised the need for equity in zoning the Senate ticket. He noted that while the Nnewi zone holds the party’s governorship ticket and the Old Aguata zone has enjoyed 12 years at the Senate, it is only right that the Ihiala zone takes its turn.

Dr. Uzoh, who has never held public office, proudly pointed to his track record of self-funded humanitarian projects. These include the construction of a 110-room hostel for Catholic youths in Amansea, a law faculty building at Madonna University, a church for the Anglican community in Ihiala, and a host of scholarships and empowerment schemes that have transformed lives.

“We’ve built leaders—Professors, SANs, captains of industry—without holding political office,” he said passionately. “Now, imagine what we can do with a mandate.”

Standing beside him, Hon. Humphrey Nsoffor echoed the call, decrying years of political neglect faced by Ihiala. He described the by-election as a golden opportunity for the APC to correct the imbalance and rally support behind a credible, selfless leader.

To demonstrate his commitment, Dr. Uzoh donated ₦5 million to support the running of the APC state secretariat.

With this bold declaration, the race for Anambra South takes on a new dimension—one that may well tilt the balance in favour of justice and grassroots service.
