NAF Will Defend Every Inch of Nigeria’s Airspace – Air Chief
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has restated the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to safeguarding the nation’s airspace and protecting lives across the country.
Speaking during the Second Quarter Route March in Abuja, Air Marshal Abubakar assured Nigerians of the Force’s readiness to collaborate with other security agencies in the ongoing fight against insurgency, terrorism, and banditry.
“We will continue to defend every inch of our nation’s airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property,” he said. “Your safety is not just our responsibility—it is our highest priority.”
The Air Chief warned criminal elements threatening national peace, in a strong message that there will be no hiding place for all those who endanger the peace and stability of Nigeria. We will find you and take you out.”
The CAS expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support to the Armed Forces, especially in the areas of operational efficiency and personnel welfare. He also reaffirmed the Force’s loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief.
On improving fitness and combat readiness, the Air Marshal revealed that all personnel must now meet strict physical standards. “Physical fitness is a non-negotiable requirement,” he stressed, noting that fitness certification will now be mandatory for promotions.
He also announced the approval of modern sporting facilities across NAF bases and the acquisition of gym equipment for over 22 units.
Describing the route march as symbolic of the wider journey toward peace and national security, Air Marshal Abubakar said, “Let it rekindle our fighting spirit. We are not just marching on roads—we are marching towards purpose, honour, and victory.”
The quarterly route march, conducted simultaneously across all NAF units, aims to build endurance, strengthen camaraderie, and reaffirm the Force’s operational readiness.
