Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister To Lead Delegation To AU-EU Ministerial Talks In Brussels

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, is set to lead the country’s delegation to the 3rd African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, from 19th to 21st May 2025.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the high-level talks will build on the longstanding AU-EU partnership, which formally began with the first summit in Cairo in 2000. Since then, the regions have held five summits aimed at strengthening cooperation.

Ahead of the main sessions, African Ambassadors and Senior Officials will meet on 19th and 20th May, respectively, to prepare for the plenary discussions. Ambassador Tuggar is expected to deliver a key intervention on Peace, Security and Governance.

The meeting marks another critical step in shaping Africa-Europe relations in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
