NAWOJ Applauds Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Announces Award of Excellence

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has lauded the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, for her unwavering dedication to advancing the rights of women and children in Nigeria.
During a courtesy visit in Abuja, the association’s National President, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, praised the Minister for her recent international recognition particularly the Changemaker Award presented in New York during this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
Hajia Ibrahim emphasised NAWOJ’s commitment to partnering with the Ministry to amplify the voices of women and girls, noting that both bodies share a common mandate of advocacy and empowerment.
She announced that the association’s upcoming National Conference, scheduled to hold in Borno State, will center on the theme “Women Journalists, Peace, and Security in Nigeria.” The Minister is expected to be honoured at the event with an Award of Excellence in recognition of her contribution to gender equity and social justice.
In her response, Minister Sulaiman-Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the recognition and assured the group of her continued support.
She highlighted the importance of women standing together in unity under the ‘She for She’ initiative, stressing that collective female solidarity is key to driving meaningful change.
She also reaffirmed her commitment to attending the Borno conference and receiving the award in person.
The Minister urged Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, assuring them of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to a better Nigeria.
