Family Feud Turns Violent In Ukwulu, Police Intervene Swiftly
What began as a family disagreement took a dangerous turn in Ukwulu, Anambra State, on the evening of April 12, 2025, when gunshots rang out during a heated altercation between siblings.
Police operatives from the Special Anti-Cultism Squad Enugu-Ukwu responded promptly to the scene, rescuing a gunshot victim and arresting two suspects.
The officers also recovered one AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition—preventing what could have spiraled into a bloodier incident.
According to preliminary investigations, the conflict stemmed from a long-standing feud between two brothers, one of whom allegedly recruited another individual to support him in the confrontation.
The victim, currently receiving treatment at a medical facility, is said to be responding well.
The suspects are in police custody and undergoing interrogation, while the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probing.
Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, assured the public of ongoing efforts to ensure justice is served and peace is maintained in the area.
As the investigation continues, the incident underscores how quickly unresolved domestic tensions can spiral into violence and the importance of early conflict resolution.
