Turkish Ambassador Bids Farewell To ECOWAS President, Reaffirms Commitment To West Africa

The Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Hidayet Bayraktar, has paid a farewell visit to the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Touray, marking the end of his diplomatic mission.
During their meeting in Abuja, Bayraktar praised the strong cooperation between Turkey and ECOWAS, highlighting Turkey’s continued commitment to supporting West Africa’s development, security, and stability.
He also extended an invitation to Dr. Touray for an upcoming event in Antalya, Turkey.
Their discussions centered on critical regional challenges, particularly insecurity and terrorism which Dr. Touray, emphasised that no ECOWAS member state could tackle these threats alone, stressing the need for unity and collaboration.
He acknowledged Turkey’s role as a key partner in Africa and called for continued support in peace and security efforts.
With Turkey reaffirming its commitment to the region, the farewell visit underscored the enduring partnership between ECOWAS and Turkey in addressing West Africa’s pressing challenges.
