Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, has congratulated Ambassador Bankole Adeoye on his re-election as the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security.

Tuggar while describing the victory as well-deserved, praised Adeoye’s leadership in strengthening Africa’s security framework and advancing peace initiatives. “His re-election reflects his unwavering commitment to resolving conflicts, promoting democratic governance, and enhancing regional cooperation,” he stated.

Ambassador Bankole’s renewed mandate comes at a crucial time as Africa faces rising security threats, including terrorism and political instability.

His expertise is expected to play a key role in boosting peacekeeping efforts and fostering stability across the continent.

In addition to his re-election, Adeoye received an award from Somalia’s government in recognition of his contributions to the AU’s peace and security agenda, particularly his role in supporting Somalia’s stability.

Nigeria continues to assert its leadership in African diplomacy, with Ambassador Bankole’s reappointment reaffirming the country’s commitment to a more peaceful and secure continent.
