In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, young female students at Government Girls Secondary School, Dutse received a powerful dose of inspiration and mentorship.

At the heart of the event was Engr. Dr. Janet Adeyemi, President of Women in Mining Nigeria (WIMIN), who shared her journey of breaking barriers in the male-dominated field of engineering.

She encouraged the girls to pursue their dreams fearlessly, emphasising that their contributions to science could shape Nigeria’s future.

The event organised by the United Nation’s Information Centre and UNESCO Abuja, also featured the Head of Science Sector at UNESCO Regional Office, Ms. Enang Moma, who stressed the need for gender balance in STEM fields—one of UNESCO’s global priorities.

With mentorship and opportunities like this, the next generation of female scientists in Nigeria is poised to rise. #EveryVoiceInScience
