ECOWAS, India Strengthen Ties for Economic Growth and Security

In a strategic move to deepen diplomatic and economic relations, the Chief of Mission of the Indian High Commission to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ms. Vartika Rawat, met with the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Touray, at the ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja.
The high-level meeting reaffirmed India’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with West Africa in trade, investment, and security.
Discussions focused on economic collaboration, capacity-building, and investment opportunities as solutions to regional security challenges.
Ms. Rawat highlighted India’s readiness to expand its footprint in West Africa, leveraging its expertise in technology, agriculture, and manufacturing.
“India sees ECOWAS as a strategic partner and is committed to promoting sustainable economic growth and regional stability,” she stated.
Dr. Touray welcomed the partnership, stressing the importance of global alliances in tackling shared challenges.
“Collaboration with key partners like India is crucial for economic development and security in the region,” he noted.
With India’s growing influence as an economic powerhouse, this renewed engagement is expected to open new opportunities for trade and investment, fostering resilience and stability across West Africa.
