The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has never contemplated plans to destroy over six million uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from the 2015 voter registration exercise.

Reacting to a recent newspaper report, the Commission described the story as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in its processes, stating that at no time did it contemplate such an action.

A statement on the Commission’s X account, encouraged citizens to stay informed through verified channels for accurate updates on electoral matters.

The Commission reiterated its dedication to ensuring all eligible voters have access to their PVCs to participate fully in the democratic process.
