Nigerian Military Intensifies Operations, Neutralises 181 Terrorists, Rescues 161 Hostages

The Armed Forces of Nigeria have ramped up their onslaught against terrorists, kidnappers, and oil thieves across various operational theaters, achieving significant breakthroughs as dry-season operations gain momentum.

According to the Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, in the Northwest, fierce battles led to the elimination of 181 terrorists and the arrest of 203 suspects, including a notorious gunrunner, Mohammed Musa, alias “Mamman,” apprehended in Plateau State.

Efforts also resulted in the rescue of 161 kidnapped victims.

He said troops cracked down on oil theft in the South-South, recovering over 765,000 liters of stolen crude oil and shutting down 47 illegal refining sites.

This operation denied oil thieves a staggering ₦728.3 million in revenue.

Buba also said the military recovered 228 weapons, including 85 AK-47 rifles, and 6,749 rounds of ammunition, along with vehicles, motorcycles, and communication equipment.

The Director Defence Media Operations revealed that with the destruction of criminal hideouts and recovery of critical resources, the Armed Forces reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism and creating a secure environment for all Nigerians.
