The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the immediate deployment of newly appointed Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic commands across the country.
This move affects Zones 1, 4, 9, and the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos.
The postings include AIG Suleiman Yusuf to Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Ahmed Ammani to Zone 1, Kano; AIG Zachariah Fera to Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Augustina Ogbodo to the FCID Annex, Lagos.
This directive follows the retirement of some AIGs and the elevation of others, including DIG Ari Muhammed Ali, now heading the Department of Operations at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
IGP Egbetokun tasked the new AIGs with upholding police reform objectives, enforcing discipline, and promoting professionalism.
He urged them to lead by example, ensuring strict supervision and curbing misconduct among officers to enhance the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force and contribute to national security.
Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed the development, emphasising the IGP’s vision for a more ethical and effective police force.
