The Special Adviser to the State Governor, on illegal motor Parks, Hon. Frank Onwumere, has advised Imolites and other road users that as the Yuletide season approaches they should ensure they board vehicles only at government-approved parks.
Speaking with newsmen on Tuesday, in Owerri, Onwumere emphasized the importance of safety during the festive period. “We want to ensure that travelers arrive at their destinations safely. Boarding vehicles at unauthorized locations increases the risk of accidents, robbery, and other criminal activities.”
Onwumere, warned that vehicles operating outside approved parks would be impounded, and drivers would face penalties. “We have designated parks for a reason. They are safer, more secure, and better equipped to handle passenger traffic.”
He also advised travellers not to jump into any vehicle they are not sure of its identity, adding that such movement might lead to one falling prey to the one chance operators, stating that his office is doing everything to checkmate one chance operators, but insist that travellers should also help by avoiding those vehicles without Verifiable identity.
The SA maintained that parks like Imo Transport Cooperation (ITC), and other government identifiable Transport system are authorised places for loading base, noting that anybody that board vehicle from such places should have confidence of getting to his or her destination.
In the area of deconjestion, the SA disclosed that they are working tirelessly to ensure that vehicles parking along the street maintaine a single parking system instead of double parking, thereby causing traffic on the roads, pointing out that they have done that at major street like Douglas Road, Okigwe Road, Porthacourt Road among others.
He urged travelers to report any unauthorized vehicle operations to the authorities. “Your safety is our priority. Let’s work together to make this Yuletide season a joyous and accident-free one.”
Hon Onwumere, commended the state Governor on his numerous achievements in the state, urging Imo people to continue to support the Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, to ensure his 3R mantra is completely achieved.
