The Nigeria Police enhancement programs and activities being initiated by the Police Authority like the very remarkable 2023 Conference and Retreat for the Senior Police Officers held on the 30th of October in Imo State, have been rated fruitful as Stakeholders had at the end of the National SERVOCON week, eulogized the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Cp Aboki Danjuma as the best Crime Fighter witnessed since its creation in 1976 just as they equally encouraged Officers of Anti- kidnapping Unit( TIGERBASE) led by CSP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa for being honest in sacrificing themselves at the battlefield with criminals and their syndicates.
The SERVOCON program which was held, dwelt a lot, on social intergration and enhanced Security Mechanism. It was well attended by notable personalities including the Imo PCRC personnel led by Mr. Chima Chukwunyere, Some Human Rights Activists, the Federal Commissioner of the Federal Complaint Commission, Mr. Mike Uzodimma, the representative of the Imo CP. DCP Serajo Fana Mohammed who stated in his address, the program, is expected to enhance Police community relationship, to evaluate the quality of Police service delivered in the State over the years, to foaster more cooperation, encourage crime reporting and ultimately create a more safer environment for all the citizens in the state.
In his presentation, the PCRC chairman, Mr. Chukwunyere, recounted the unbeatable records of commitments by CP Danjuma in fostering a culture of professionalism, integrity and respect within the Police Force especially his fight against terrorism, police extortion, harassment and other unprofessional conducts by men of the Force.
Speaking to the Newsmen concerning their assessments on the achievements of the Command since the last year, some stakeholders in the center for Human Rights and Social Advancement gave kudos to some Police Officers especially, Men of the Tigar Base. He described the Tigar Base team as the main officers in the command that have fearlessly sacrificed their lives to make the IGP, the CP, and Imo people very proud. He noted that the only group of persons that want to tarnish the good image of the Tigar Base Officers, are the real enemies of Imo especially those who are into heinous crimes like organ harvesting ,the kidnap syndicates and other evil men who attack Tigar Base because, the officers do not accept their evil offers and bribes to freely operate in state. He thanked the CP for allowing a selfless professional police Officer like CSP Oladimeji to function as the TigarBase commander.
In his words, ” the police are singled out for excessive criticisms because their sphere of influence is much wider than that of any other public servants. Otherwise, the amount of corruption which is perpetrated by any of these other public servants like customs, immigration and others, is greater than the police. The public themselves, must learn to refrain from making this nation, a fertile ground for bribery and corruption.
Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sami has this to say; Until we go back to our traditional values and jettison Western immorality, through using our institutions of learning and religious organizations especially in the early age, we would never get it right.
