The Mbaitoli legislative Council has officially been inaugurated on Tuesday at the Local government headquarters Nwaorieobi.
The event witnessed a large turn out of Mbaitoli leaders and other dignitaries. The Deputy Governor of Imo state, Her Excellency, Lady Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru was present and also brought a good will message from the governor.Others included Chief Malcolm Nlemigbo the apex leader of the APC in Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. Innocent Ikpamezie member representing Mbaitoli state constituency in the Imo state house of Assembly, HRH Eze George Eke the chairman Mbaitoli council of traditional rulers, amongst others.
During the first plenary by the clerk of the house, Mr Princewill Osuagwu who graciously constituted the legislative Council, Hon Frank Onyeji representing the good people of Afara Eziama ward was elected the leader of the 7th legislative Council of Mbaitoli LGA. Hon Onyekachi Collins Ogwuruike representing Amaike ward was elected the Deputy leader. Others include Hon Obinna Magnus Majority leader, and Hon Philian Nlemadim Majority Chief Whip.
In her address, the Deputy Governor of Imo state, Her Excellency Lady Mrs Chinyere Ekomaru charged the Councillors to discharge their legislative duties in accordance with the 3R mantra of the Shared Prosperity government of Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma to deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroots. She urged them to make laws that would engender development for the good people of Mbaitoli LGA. She called on the people of Mbaitoli to support the Councillors in order for them to succeed in their legislative assignments.
The Executive chairman of the largest local government in Imo State, Hon Ifunanya Nwanegwo in his speech expressed his profound gratitude to every voter who aligned with his vision of developing Mbaitoli LGA to vote for him. He charged the Councillors to remember that their shared goals is to reach every resident of their various communities, adding that together they would draw from their collective strengths to better the future of Mbaitoli people stressing that as they are embarking on this journey, they should know that they will work in line with the 3R mantra of His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma.
Hon Nwanegwo said that in the introduction of the Shared Prosperity, he pledged to uphold the principles of accountability, transparency, and good governance, an initiative that aligns with the 3R mantra of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Recovery of Senator Hope Uzodinma that would enhance even development at the grassroots. He also promised access to health care, adequate security and other essential services to the grassroots while urging the councillors to make laws that would not only service the interest of their various wards but would elevate the entire local government as to ensure good governance to the people.
The Clerk of the house, Mr Princewill Osuagwu before constituting the legislative Council read out the good will message/proclamation of the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma for the constitution of the 7th legislative house in all the 27 LGA of Imo state.
Other dignitaries present were the executive vice chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon Lady Ijeoma Rose Onyeji, Barr Uwakaem K.I. the Director of Administration DAGS, Hon. Chinonye Agubo chairman Mbaitoli APC, Hon Kelechi Obi vice chairman APC, Mrs Isabella Asinobi women leader, and the first lady of the LGA, Lolo Lebechi Nwanegwo and others.
