IGP Approves Compensation For Officers In Kano Accident, Reaffirms Commitment to Personnel Welfare

In a demonstration of his unwavering dedication to the well-being of police personnel, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved immediate financial relief for officers affected by a tragic accident on September 24, 2024.

The officers were returning from special duty during the Edo State elections when their vehicle was involved in a fatal crash on the Zaria-Kano Expressway, near Karfi Kura claiming the lives of five officers, and 11 others hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, eight have since been discharged after receiving medical care, with three still undergoing treatment.

In response, the IGP has swiftly approved compensation to provide support to the affected officers and their families.

Families of the deceased will receive N10 million, acknowledging their immense loss and offering financial assistance during this difficult time.

Those still in treatment will be granted N2 million to ensure continued medical care, while those discharged will receive N500,000 as they recover.

The IGP reassured the force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel, especially during challenging times like these and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery for the officers still in treatment, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to stand by its personnel in times of need.
