ECOWAS Condemns Attacks On Malian Security Forces In Tin Zaouatine

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, has condemned in strong terms the recent violent attacks against members of the Malian Defense and Security Forces in Tin Zaouatine in the north of the country, which have resulted in numerous casualties amongst Malian forces.
According to a statement by the ECOWAS Directorate of Communications, the regional bloc has been concerned about the developments in Mali’s security situation.
The ECOWAS Commission extends its sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Mali, as well as to the families of the victims, and at the same time, takes the opportunity to express its strong disapproval and condemnation of any foreign interference in the region that threatens peace and security in West Africa or any attempt to draw the Region into the current geopolitical confrontations.
ECOWAS further reiterated its commitment to any initiative that would enhance peace, security, and stability in the sub-region.
