Following the announcement of local government elections by the Imo state Independent Electoral Commission, the Action Democratic Party ADP Imo state has placed the cost of nomination and expressions of interest forms at #100,000, and #50,000 for Chairmanship and Councillorship positions respectively.
The State chairman of the party, Dr Uzo Nmezi stated this on Monday during his meeting with State Working Committee SWC members.
He said that the Expression of interest form for Chairmanship position is #50,000 fifty thousand naira only, while nomination form is #100,000 one hundred thousand naira only. Expression of interest form for Councillorship positions is #20,000 twenty thousand naira only, while the nomination form is #50,000 fifty thousand naira only. ” It is free for women and People Living With Disabilities PLWDs. Uzo Nmezi noted that the price of the forms was pegged low to enhance more citizens participation in the local government elections, adding that ADP is a credible alternative having its ideologies on transparency, accountability, equity and good governance .
He calls on all Imo citizens to take advantage of this golden opportunity to register in ADP and buy forms from the party so as to be able to showcase their capacities and win the elections.
Earlier in his speech, the chairman hailed the judgement of the Supreme Court for granting autonomy to the LGAs describing it as good for our nascent democracy.
