Orsu Rebuild Imo Movement Strategises, Poised For Massive Mobilisation

By Ori Martins, Ebube Mbah

The Rebuild Imo Movement, Orsu Local Government chapter, has sensationally displayed a grand point of unity, togetherness, and a clear sense of direction.

In pursuit of its sole agendum of gaining the masses’ confidence in the Rebuild Imo Movement, the Orsu chapter of RIM held a meeting last Saturday as part of its sensitization and structural renewal engagements.

Staged and inspired by Engr. Ben Ekwueme, the leader of the movement in Orsu and a former commissioner of works, the Rebuild Imo Movement in the council recorded a high level of compliance, as virtually everyone that mattered in the council attended the meeting.

Addressing the gathering, Ekwueme, who could not hide his happiness over the massive turnout, revealed that Orsu was intact for RIM.

According to him, “For the record, what you are seeing here can be regarded as the leaders of Orsu RIM. We did not want to make it appear as if we are doing a rally. No. We decided to bring in leaders from the 11 wards in Orsu so they can take the message to their respective domains.

“Out of the 11 wards, seven are here with us. One representative passed away, and another took permission due to a pressing personal concern. In other words, Orsu’s political structure has collapsed into the Rebuild Imo Movement.”

Ekwueme urged members present to embark on a more aggressive campaign to attract more adherents to RIM, irrespective of party, social, or religious affiliations.

He, however, warned, “This is not a time for the negotiation of offices or positions. The time for that will come.” He commended Princess Ngozi Odikenkemelu, the Orsu RIM coordinator, for her dedication to duty.

In his contribution, a former executive member of the State Working Committee of PDP, Comrade Timothy Obodozie, thanked members for their steadfastness and urged them to be more committed as the task ahead was more taxing.

Madam Florence Asonye praised Ekwueme for his love and enthusiasm towards the growth of RIM in Orsu and advised for increased women and youth mobilization.

Other speakers, such as Chief John Utazi, Dr. Livy Ikebuasi, and Comrade Iyke Okorie, re -emphasized Ekwueme’s stance on the need to strengthen RIM in Orsu by making it more attractive for more people to join the movement.

Among those who witnessed the meeting as observers were the Director General of the Rebuild Imo Campaign Organisation, Dr. Vin Udokwu; a chieftain of the RIM, Chief Damian Ezeagu; Coordinator of the Rebuild Imo Campaign Organization, Owerri Zone, Chief Ben Mere; as well as his Okigwe counterpart, Prof. Obioma Iheduru. The Orlu Zone coordinator, Comrade Kenneth Akunnakwe. The representation of the media team of the Rebuild Imo Movement in the persons of Ori Martins and Prince Ebube Mbah were equally present at the meeting.
