Troops Rescue Another 137 Abducted School Children

Defence Headquarters says troops have rescued another set of school children abducted by terrorists who had invaded LEA School Kuriga in Chikun LG of Kaduna State on 7 March 2024.

The rescued hostages totalling 137 in number, comprising 76 females and 61 male, were rescued in Zamfara State and would be conveyed and handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further action.

A statement signed by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, recalled that troops had received information that terrorists had abducted and therefore, set out to ensure all the hostages were rescued.

This commitment, yielded the desired results when in the early hours of 24 March 2024, the military working with local authorities and government agencies across the country, in a coordinated search and rescue operation rescued the hostages.

According to the DMO, these efforts demonstrate the armed forces’ resolve to find other innocent hostages and track down the terrorists that perpetrate the crimes.

He promised that such efforts would continue until other hostages are found, rescued and the terrorists arrested, tried, and brought to justice by Nigerian law.

Major General Buba, revealed that troops are employing similar effort to trackdown the culprits responsible for the killings of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community in Delta State adding that they can not go unpunished as justice await them.
