DSS Felicitates With Christians, Muslims During Fasting, Wishes Them Peaceful Excercise

The Department of State Services (DSS) is identifying with Christians and Muslims during Lenten and Ramadan Periods and wishing them a peaceful exercise.

A statement by Ph.D., Director, PR and Strategic Communications, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, Dr Peter Afunanya, said, in felicitations sue for peace, unity, and harmony to promote understanding, compassion, and respect for one another.

According to the statement, the DSS recognises the significance of these sacred rites and enjoins worshippers to promote understanding, compassion, and respect for one another during and after the exercises.

It appealed to stakeholders to refrain from economic exploitation, sabotage, or profiteering during these important obligations as illegal practices such as price gouging or unethical marketing tactics are ungodly; violates fairness and can undermine the true essence of the holy events.

The statement ejoins that as believers, it behoves all to uphold good standards and ensure that everyone can observe the religious duties with ease and dignity, while encouraging clerics and religious leaders to uphold empathy as well as prioritize cooperation and conflict prevention beyond the exercise.

In like manner, it encouraged the media to utilise their platforms to foster informed and accurate engagements that can enhance the achievement of national security objectives and interests just as it advised residents to remain vigilant against public dangers especially Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs.

The Service, while calling for tolerance, bonds of brotherhood, dialogue, and peaceful coexistence among the populace, further urged citizens to stay informed about potential threats; avoid crowded or suspicious areas, and report to relevant security agencies any strange objects, activities, and movements of hostile elements.

It reaffirmed its commitments to ensuring strategic intelligence along with other sister agencies to achieve a safe and secure country.

The Service, enjoined the citizenry to use the spiritual journeys in the Lenten and Ramadan periods, to love and share the values that unite urging them to reaffirm commitment to the values of mercy, tolerance, forgiveness, and being their brother’s keepers among others so as to advance a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
