The efficacy of conflict resolution through Mediation, Negotiation, Skills and Peacebuilding Processes has tenaciously crepped into Imo communities and Leadership as moves are being made to set up Imo Peacebuilding and Conflict resolution Commission.
Ambassador Engr. Peter C. Ohagwa , Commander general Imo Peace Corps who also is the D/G Bureau for Peace and conflict resolution center Imo who feilded questions from Journalists after chairmaning a one day conference by Abuja leadership and United for Peace IMO State at the Rockview Hotels Owerri disclosed that Imo is dire need of complete return of Peace in the Communities.
Engr Ohagwa told Newsmen that insurgency that is reigning supreme in most parts of Nigeria is gradually creeping into our state especially Kidnapping calls for Federal govt restablishing Forestry Guards as Panacea to curb atrocities of hoodlums and banditry in the nation.
In his words , developments only come about where ever Peace reigns, for distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma to deliver democracy Dividends , Imo Communities must be Peaceful and willingly cooperate with the government.
Asked if assigning security duties to Forests guards would not conflict duties of Police and Army , the Nkwerre born ADR expert deposed that forestry guards are to act as informants like in Community Policing just like what Imo Hunters Association did a couple of weeks ago where Police discovered decomposing Corpses in Avu, Ohiagwa dumped by Kidnappers allegedly perpetrated by Fulani Herders .
He admonished Nigerians especially Press and members of the academia to put more discuss on ways of abating insecurities.
Rev. Dr. Austin Uchegbu one time Imo state deputy Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria ( C A N ) in his submission disclosed that his group opted coming together to set up a Platform in the state that will galvanise Imo Communities on the need for Peacebuilding Processes and Conflict resolution .
Rev Uchegbu who also is the state Coordinator of both Institute for Crisis resolution Peacebuilding and Conciliation as well as United for Peace IMO State expressed delight that almost all Communities in the 27 Local govts attended as some Town Union President generals and traditional Rulers were present.
The Clergy used the opportunity to congratulate His Excellenncy distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma on the successful inauguration of his second tenure as governor.
Dr. Uchegbu also thanked Imo Commissoner of Police , Cp Danjuma Aboki and Engr Ohagwa as well as HRH Eze Dr. Matthew Nwokoma for graciously attending with other diginritries.
