Imo NUJ holds end of year party, charges Uzodimma on community development

By Our Correspondent

The Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) led by Comrade, Barr Precious Nwadike has commended the developmental efforts of the state governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Speaking during the 2023 End of the Year Get-together of the union at the Imo NUJ Secretariat Portharcourt Road Owerri Saturday, he said that the governor had done well in different areas of development in the state and as a result, should be commended.

The NUJ Chairman, who was represented on the occasion by an elder in the union, Elder Lambert Ojukwu who is also the publisher of one of the best- selling local tabloids in the state, Newspoint Newspapers, however noted that the governor’s greatest challenge was the presence of his unprofessional and biased media handlers who directly or indirectly demarket him through their unprofessional activities.

He said that the so-called media handlers were fond of using and backing the unpatriotic and unprofessional segment of the union whose members sold the old Imo NUJ Secretariat to a former governor without due process and shared the proceeds among themselves , before the patriotic Imo journalists stormed the premises and recovered it in line with the 3R mantra of the state governor, namely, Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction.

While sounding it loud and clear that the Nwadike led Imo NUJ had no problems with the governor, he seized the opportunity afforded by the forum to urge the governor to make out time to visit the Imo NUJ Secretariat on Portharcourt Road to witness first hand the wreckage, recovery and rehabilitation that had since taken place in order to arm himself with a first class information about union.

He finally commended both journalists and veterans who attended the get-together and urged them to continue to walk on the path of justice for the union to remain an indivisible and United entity.
