5 Crew Members Of NAF Helicopter Mishap Escape With Minor Injuries

The Director of Public Relations and Information Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, says a Nigerian Air Force, NAF, MI-35P helicopter crashed at Port Harcourt today, 1 December 2023.
He said all crew of 5 survived the unfortunate incident which occurred at about 7.45am shortly after the aircraft took off for an operation against economic saboteurs in Rivers State.
According to him, survivora of the crash came out with very minor injuries and were being attended to at NAF Medical Centre Port Harcourt as at the time of filing the report.
The NAF Spokesperson, said Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, was in Port Harcourt to access the situation for himself, and ro see to the wellbeing of the crew and give further directives.
Air Commodore Gabkwet emphasised that incident of this nature is a grim reminder of the dangers associated with military flying and the risks NAF pilots and technicians experience in their onerous tasks of defending the nation and deterring criminal elements from their nefarious activities.
