The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS has expressed sadness over various attacks by armed groups in the Republic of Niger that led to the death of several Nigerien soldiers.
A statement from the ECOWAS Commission, condemns these attacks and conveys its deepest condolences to the people of Niger and families of the soldiers who lost their lives.
ECOWAS, therefore, called on the CNSP-military leadership in Niger to restore constitutional order so as to focus on the security of the country that has become increasingly fragile since coup against the democratically elected President, Mohamed Bazou.
