The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has vowed the military will brutally hunt down the orchestrators of insecurity across the six geopolitical zones of the country and take appropriate actions to hold them accountable for their actions.
A statement signed by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba said the armed Forces of Nigeria will not back down in its offensive operations but will continue to take great measures to prevent civilian casualties as protecting civilians remains a vital part of their objective to promote greater security for all Nigerians.
The statement noted that the uncommon cooperation, collaboration and support received from citizens across the country is greatly assisting their operations and yielding the expected results.
According to him, Nigerians are speaking up, and the military is doing something about it adding that during the week leading to 11th August 2023, the military had neutralized 38 terrorists, arrested 175 gunmen/ criminals, 20 kidnappers, 30 collaborators and 17 pipeline vandals.
He said the military also rescued 89 kidnapped hostages and denied oil thieves the sum of Six Hundred and Seven Million, Three Hundred and Forty-Six Thousand, Seven Hundred and Fifty Naira (N607,346,750.00) being value of seizures.
The troops also recovered 38 assorted weapons and 186 ammunition among other miscellaneous items.
Major General Buba, promised that the military will sustain its offensive until all criminals quit as the military will continue to do what it knows to do best and urged the citizenry to “Know Something, Say Something, and Military will do Something”.
