Despite rejection of the outcome of the 2023 general elections by some political parties, accolades have continued to trail INEC’s ingenuity in the conduct of the election from various quarters.
The most recent of such encomiums came from the medium and large-scale printing companies in Nigeria, who expressed profound gratitude to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for giving them the privilege to print all electoral materials locally for the Election.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman,Yahaya Amfani and Secretary, Ademola Kasumu of the Nigeria Medium and Large-Scale Printers League, the companies said the opportunity to be a part of the historic national exercise was both an honor and a privilege.
They expressed joy that in spite of the enormous responsibility that comes with producing election materials which is critical to the democratic process, INEC placed its trust in their capabilities and expertise, hence they spared no effort to ensure that each material was printed with the utmost precision, quality, and security.
The statement further noted that throughout the project, their teams worked tirelessly to meet strict timelines and for the first time in the history of conducting elections in Nigeria, there was no reason to postpone the election owing to unavailability of electoral material.
According to them, working on the project was a significant milestone for the local printing industry in Nigeria, adding that it has provided an opportunity to showcase their advanced technologies and dedicated workforce and as such, can render similar services to ECOWAS nations and other African countries.
They implored the government to admonish other agencies to emulate INEC in patronizing local service providers as it will reinvigorate the Nigerian Economy, ensure the utilization of local resources and expertise as well as significantly reduce capital flight, benefiting the nation’s economy and contributing to sustainable economic development.
